Northern Drapiastar

Migrating towards the colder areas of the Northern hemisphere, the Northern Drapiastar has made its way to land. Due to the new threat of Siluros, their armor has spread and spikes have enlarged to help avoid becoming prey. Their body has become lengthened, which allows them to climb somewhat, and at times, even do a short-lived sprint via holding it over the rest of its body. Due to such a quick transition, they had to developed whiskers extending from their chemoreceptive patches to 'smell' on land, which they have to feel around to catch a scent of any kind. Despite living in Temperate Woodlands, they're still rather permeable, having to head into a body of water every once in a while to wet its skin and refill its oxygen supply. Their respiratory system has advanced considerably from simple spiracles, each set leading to 3 chambers and several other tubes to allow water to circulate through while on land. Rings of muscle with armor-derived, hair-like structures lining them have formed around each spiracle, which allows it to suck in a large amount of water before heading to land an closing the system to the air. These previously mentioned 'hairs' serve mainly to prevent things - such as sediments or small creatures - from clogging up its respiratory system. During the night, individuals will burrow into the floor of a body of water such as a river or pond, with their spiracles exposed, and individuals will hibernate the entire duration of the winter months. They have evolved a radial, eyelid-like structure used for wetting its eyes - which have sunk into their head - as well as more focused vision. Its anal fingers have become long and slender, folding against its anal limb somewhat as to prevent damaging them.

Feeding Strategy

In addition to their extendable mouth that can break armor and generally helps with feeding, it can now suction feed. It does this via extending its mouth a bit, before swiftly contracting it back under its skin, which causes water to rush in, allowing it to feed on smaller organisms it otherwise wouldn't be able to at its size. Adults occasionally feed on sediments and other rocky substances (This would include Graverobber Shrewvs), and this is to help form its now mineralized teeth. Its harder teeth, which are accompanied with stronger muscles, are used to help with harder things to crack, most notably the shells of smaller Siluros.
