Sandcish
The Sandcish is a remarkable example of cish adaptability. Derived from the Wright Coral Cish population, Sandcishes are ambush hunters, burying their flat bodies into the sand using their tails. Using specially adapted "bait tentacles", these predators attract prey directly to their location on the ocean's floor. These bait tentacles are laced with glands which secrete various attractive chemicals into the water. When the prey is in reach, the Sancish launches forward and sucks, sending the prey straight into its gullet.
Sandcish young begin their lives as eggs buried in the sand. For the first couple of months of their lives, the young are detritivores, eating away at particles in the sand. Eventually, when around 6 cm long, Sandcish begin hunting small prey. Sandcish reach maturity around 2 years old.
