The burrower slooíde split from its ancestor and moved into the shady, moist, and relatively low competition environment of the underground. Thanks to the underground environment being relatively stable in terms of humidity, they reproduce as adults in puddles formed by rain and in pockets of water both underground and near caonachs. While these pools tend to either evaporate or become stagnant before adulthood, burrower slooídes tend to produce their young in Niyo-Towel Tropical Watershed. Each specimen lives for about a year and a half, feeding on fallen plants and decaying plant matter. While they can be found throughout Ovi Tropical Rainforest, their numbers are most concentrated around Niyo Tropical River and Niyo Swamp. They prefer to dig in moist soil by using their tentacles to scoop out dirt and pack it into the walls of their tunnels. As a result of their eyes being on the ends of their tentacles, they have developed a tough, transparent cuticle made of keratin over their eyes that keeps them from being damaged. These cuticles get scratched up through natural wear and tear thanks to their subterranean lifestyle and are shed once a week.
