Crystal Mosshroom
With great crusts of crystals coating everything dead, smaller crystals had an easier time finding room—and thus, a branch off of the crustal gem got smaller and smaller. The result is the Crystal Mosshroom. Much like its ancestor, the crystal mosshroom resembles a black gemstone and feeds on detritus a lot like a mushroom. It often grows in the same crystalline crusts as its ancestor, fitting in gaps between the larger crystals to get every last bit of detritus. It is otherwise much like its ancestor; it has a relatively short life but produces clouds of glittery water-borne spores, and it resembles a black gemstone with a “fiery” core when held to light—an appearance caused by its reddish insides showing through its slightly translucent shell.
