Eventually, mosshroom spores made their way to LadyM Ridge, where eventually some managed to survive and adapt to the greater pressure. The Volcanic Mosshroom is very similar to its ancestor in every way, as it too tends to encrust deceased organisms, filling a mushroom-like niche; however, to survive the great heat and pressure, its shell is dramatically thicker. This impacts its appearance, as its shell is now completely opaque, meaning it doesn’t appear to have a “fiery core” when held to light anymore. It is otherwise identical to its ancestor; it has a relatively short life but produces great clouds of glittery water-borne spores to ensure its genes pass on to the next generation.
