The Coolelerd Shovelface has migrated into the wetlands and freshwater regions of Drake. They feed on cryoflora exclusively as the crystal mats haven't been able to expand into the polar fresh waters. They have reduced in size to 16 centimetres. Its dorsal spines are even further reduced to reduce the space needed for their overwintering shelters in rock crevices. Its exoskeleton has developed new sections as between its main body segments, providing a sturdier connection for the limbs. Its gonopodium has become even more curved to reduce mating articulation even further. They will hibernate over the winter and breed each spring. Females will produce hundreds of eggs and bury them in shallow nests. It is able to travel for a short period of time on dry land to feed on the flora on the water's edge.
