Valdosta fringeweed has adapted its body plan again. Rather than a singular linear line of fronds like its ancestor, the valdosta fringeweed has multiple lines of fronds along an exposed rhizome dome. Its long thin fronds can grow up to 4 meters tall in the abundant tropical sunlight. They have extended their range to include the wetlands off of their tropical and subtropical ranges. To deal with low tide events they have developed a waxy cuticle coating to prevent desiccation in the event of being above water during low tide events.
