Crystalkillers
This split of Protopathogena crysta spread to lots more areas, including terrestrial areas as a result of washing on the beach. Its chitinase has gotten stronger, now able to lightly damage Defended Sea Rupees with the power of a coenzyme before being killed by its protein. Those that rarely survive strip away the exterior, causing the erosion of what’s left of the crystal. Another positive mutation for them is the ability to kill crystals over 3 to 4 days along with organisms attempting at consuming the remaining chunks to die, leaving the crystalkillers to decompose and consume their insides. Terrestrial variants have a more spread out shape for sliding and for spreading faster. They kill terrestrial crystals by drilling “dens” with their proboscis and eroding it. These erosion holes can grow up to 3 cm.
