As the number of Photosagnia luculentus clouds reached their greatest extent, many Photosagnia traveled further and further down as their clouds began to expand downwards as well as outwards, causing some to settle at the bottom of the surrounding coasts and eventually the upper regions of the Vailnoff Twilight Slope and Floor, scavenging dead, fallen organisms from the ocean surface. As such, they became the Benthosagnia, a more seafloor orientated organism dedicated to scavenging over photosynthesis. They form small pinkish patches, though these patches rarely grow more than a few centimeters across, they may fervently cover larger corpses as the microbes feed and multiply.

Benthosagnia have the ability to remain dormant for a prolonged period of time, only awakening when food is detected nearby by chemoreceptors.
