Split off from the lilstar, the barnaclestar developed modified baits on its center which it uses to cling to the surface of crystal plants present in its environment. It lives a sessile life, its elongated arms waving in the water current and catching small cells and bits of dead organisms which pass by. It is otherwise like its ancestor in appearance and shape, though a bit larger, and it can get additional energy by converting oxygen to carbon dioxide.
