As a result of a mutation, this genus has become colonial, forming clumps of individual cells. They drift along the currents, specimens rarely using their pseudopods for locomotion, instead using them to mainly gather sunlight and food. Individual cells can survive on their own, but they tend to be with other cells, often doing mitosis if they can't find more of their species. Clusters of cells are frequently trapped in small spaces, such as on beaches, shevs, and other generally uneven surfaces, living or not, and as a result are commonly found stuck in random spots, especially at beaches. They can split up their clusters, as well as transfer DNA from one cell to another, both helping in reproduction. Their taste is revolting thanks to an acid in their cells, discouraging many organisms from consuming them. This acid creates a very bitter taste, and can even cause permanent damage under certain circumstances. When in clusters, they tend to not sexually reproduce much, but will do so much more frequently when they enter a new one, though not for very long.
